Playa del Carmen.
Playa del Carmen is located just 55 km south of Cancun´s International Airport. Lodging options in Playa range from cozy cabanas on the beach to 5 star hotels; and some of the most important points of interest are the Mayan archeological sites, the dive spots, and the many cenotes with flooded caves and caverns filled with crystal clear fresh water and beautifully decorated with stalactites and stalagmites. Also to be found are ancient fossils thousands of years old. Some cenotes are still waiting to be discovered and explored, as there are thousands of these fresh water sinkholes in the Yucatan Peninsula.
The Caribbean sea is full of reefs covered in multicolored coral and fish species, making it an ideal home for the region’s marine life.
